The first of many
I’ve decided to pretty much break up with social medias. They’re just too much of a bloody time-suck for me, and they take more than they give back, which just isn’t a fair relationship. Instead, I’ve decided to just post regularly here on my blog from now on.
I aim to put up more short posts which will still include my usual ramblings but will also be the latest things I’ve been drawing day-to-day, including quite a few sketches that have been hidden in my sketchbooks.
I thought I’d kick off with a few here:
Here is a lady testing out the latest of some sort of technological innovation! What a time we live in? This machine is designed so that you have to actually get on your knees and assume a kind of prayer position to access it. It has the latest lip identification technology and apparently it is also necessary to kiss the screen every 10 minutes to stop it from going into sleep-mode.
This gentlemen using his Skype to talk some kind of business at The Arts House cafe in Bristol, UK. He was sat directly in my field of vision so I could “get him!” without seeming like some kind of starer. He was talking unashamedly loudly, which might have been due to his headphone wearing, but he had a calming Spanish rhythm to his words so it was okay! Judging from his side of the phone call I could only assume he worked in tours sales. His phone call did not go well.
Here is man, a professor I can only presume, eating his lunch. This was when I went for coffee at Workhouse cafe in Bristol, UK. He really had such a wonderful shape to him and the light from the window in front of him caught the creases of his blazer with real purpose. He attracted flies.
After I scan my drawings, I can’t help but to touch them up and go over any mistakes I notice. Would you prefer I upload drawings from my sketchbooks as photographs of the page so you can see them in their “raw” state, or would you prefer them like they are above as scanned images? You let me know now.

29th March, 2017Hey Ainspants,
Really enjoyed the mini-stories behind the characters, could work well in a two panel strip like a before and after to really show your unique sense of humour. Just a thought I had.
See you digging the brush pen still! It’s great to see the smudge marks from these on the scanned images as it conveys the rushed time you probably had between pouring in the hot water. Scanned always before photographs.

30th March, 2017Hey Chaos,
Thanks for your comments. That’s something to consider.
Yeah still loving the brush pen, I’ve got two now. I’m considering filling one of them with water instead of ink and using it to add colour using a watercolour paint palette.

Thanks for these , I really like them…esp the fly guy. Maybe you could post the initial sketches and the touched up versions, I kinda always like to see the process.
have a great day, and thanks again

30th March, 2017Hey Cath,
Thanks a lot! That’s a good idea, I always like to see the process too so I might think about a cool way to include the initial sketches.
Have a good hour!
