Drawing Gifts

Posted by on May 7, 2017 | 5 Comments

The bane of being able to draw things, means that for special occasions I find I generally have to make cards for people close to me, or at least “do a drawing” for them. I only blame myself, because I started doing it at a young age and feel I am expected to do it forever more. It’s not so bad if I plan ahead of time and come up with an idea.

The flipside is that when it comes to actual gifts, giving a drawing or picture becomes a good escape plan when stuck for present ideas.

Here are a few personalised gifts I’ve created for people in the last couple of weeks:

A portrait of someone’s dog for their birthday. [Black ink, brown/grey fineliner, blue pencil]

A vintage Mini commissioned by my sister to give to her friend as a wedding gift:

I wanted to do this quickly so I sketched it straight onto Photoshop instead of on paper first.

A birthday card for an Asian-food-loving someone.

AND A NON-GIFT RELATED SKETCH

A drawing I did of my brother, sitting on a bean bag chair, playing Gameboy. I decided to add more to this one, without going too far. I can easily get swept away with adding too much.

So, sorry it took me so long to post again. May has been a month full of birthdays that have taken time away from other creative cha chas. Please, any comments welcome!

Well this is fab, but I don’t remember playing Gameboy on a beanbag!

I would like to see a copy of this licence for legitimacy reasons.

Everybody knows artistic license are invisible. At least all the cool people.

It was lost in the mail, but I was assured by The League of Okay Artists it was granted,
