OLYMPIC HIGH JUMP
The Olympics!
I was inspired by the games to produce this illustration. Rarely do you see the human body twisted and contorted into such obscure positions so I thought I’d be a fool not to challenge myself and try and recreate one or two.
My main goal for this piece was to create an action pose using a dynamic perspective. I’m always captivated by unique compositions with interesting angles and am constantly trying to push myself out of my comfort zone in order to develop as an image maker. It doesn’t always work out and sometimes you need to realise when to cut your losses and give up on a piece rather than trying to polish a turd. The important thing is not to spend too much time over thinking things because this will lead to hesitation and thus procrastination. Urgh!
If I find myself procrastinating on a piece or unable to work out why it’s not working I usually take time off to work on another piece, whether starting something new or carrying on with something I’ve already begun. It’s a great way to relax and refresh the creative mind and in turn makes me more decisive and assertive when I come back to the original piece I was working on.
Create while you wait. Nom sayin?

12th October, 2012Thanks a lot Jason. I’d like to try more with other dynamic “in motion” perspectives.
